It was music composer Harris jeyaraj, who had recommended Hansika Motwani's name when director Rajesh was searching for an actress to play the heroine in producer Udhayanidhi Stalin's maiden heroic venture 'Oru Kal Oru Kannadi'
The top music director was impressed with the actress's performance in 'Engeyum Kadhal' and this made him to put forth Hansika's name to Rajesh and Udhay, which was accepted immediately.
Confirming this, Udhayanidhi says, 'It was Harris Jayaraj sir who recommended Hansika’s name for Oru Kal Oru Kannadi. Though I was quite nervous initially to stand in front of the camera with her, things became smooth gradually.'
Throwing light on the film, he says, "It is a light hearted entertainer quite typical to Rajesh's earlier ventures ('Siva Manasula Sakthi' and 'Boss Engira Baskaran). I observed Jiiva's acting in SMS and fine tuned mine accordingly .

Sources say” Perarasu, Bharath and Sunaina, along with choreographer Ashok Raj, will be leaving to France in May to can two songs for the film. Both these numbers, for which music has been composed by Perarsu himself, are melodic duets. After this schedule, the film will be wrapped up.”

Initial reports suggested that Surya will be seen in three different avatars, but now a source has claimed that the actor is playing two roles in the film. The first character is of a circus acrobat and the second is a Buddhist monk, who lived in China in the 14th century. Shruti Hassan is portraying the character of a scientist, who discovers the connection between the two characters played by the actor.

''I am thrilled to be part of Rana but I am tensed to do a period film,'' 60-year-old Rajnikanth said as he emerged out of the AVM studios where the shooting commenced.
Rana is a film that has a portion set in the 17th century and Bollywood damsel Deepika Padukone plays the female lead opposite Rajni in the film.
''It is a challenging task to do a period film. I am sure we will pull it off,'' Rajinikanth said.
In his illustrious film career spanning more than four decades, Rajnikanth would have done various roles like hero, villain, comedy and even devotional roles.
However, for the first time he would be doing a period film.
''Rana is a big budget film. I am doing a triple role,'' he said, adding, ''for the first time I am doing a period film.'' Exuding confidence, Rajni said ''with fan's blessings Rana should do well.''

Ajith is said to be playing the role of a betting kingpin in Mangaatha. The story of the film revolves around the gamblers, who try to manipulate the Indian Premier League (IPL) by offering bribe to the players. Arjun Sarja plays the role of an investigating officer, who cracks the code of bookies and match-fixers.
Mangaatha, written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, also features Trisha Krishnan, Vaibhav Reddy, Premji Amaren, Lakshmi Rai, Andrea Jeremiah, Sona Heiden and others in the cast. The audio of the film is expected to hit the market in May and the movie will release in June.
